This week we continue our Music Special series with the (in)famous Japanese idol group AKB48 and one of their earliest songs: 会いたかった

会う　あう　to meet, to encounter 
One of the most important Japanese verbs out there.

会いたかった　あいたかった　is the past tense “desire” form of 会う and means
(I) wanted to meet (you).

Hope you will remember 会いたかった and the Kanji 会 (カイ、エ) as well since the girls are singing this word like 30 times in this song.
